106 - Learn to Speak Shakespeare's Verse
Monday, January 28, 2019
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
USN - Room 1120
Description:In Act III, Scene II of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, there is a curious scene in which Hamlet gives advice to a group of actors on how to deliver verse in a more natural and less affected style. Usually referred to as "Hamlet's advice to the players," these remarkable guidelines are yours to adopt in this workshop on reciting Shakespeare or "speaking the speech" offered by the esteemed actor and Executive Artistic Director of The Nashville Shakespeare Festival, DENICE HICKS. You will be amazed as you learn to break Shakespeare's poetry into "tasty" bite-sized treats and then confidently deliver up to 14 lines of poetry in a personalized and effective way.
