Instructor: Jordan Bellamy
Come watch the award winning documentary Ship Happens with director JORDAN BELLAMY and learn about the process of making this fascinating documentary. Ship Happens tells the 2019 story of when the Golden Ray, a cargo ship loaded with 4,200 vehicles capsized off the cost of Saint Simons Island, Georgia. Concerned locals work hard to undo the environmental damage and hold authorities accountable, but the attempt to remove the ship suffers every possible setback. Ship Happens documents the "toxic relationship" that unfolds between the salvage efforts and the small town residents of Saint Simons Island who bear helpless witness to a two-year salvage project gone awry in their otherwise idyllic island paradise.
A Q&A will be moderated by filmmaker, festival programmer, and former USN educator JARED LACROIX.
Class Fee: $40.00
Age 16 and up.
