Instructor: Five homes in the Nashville Area

Spend your Saturday morning visiting several Nashville-area back yard chicken coops at your own pace. Each stop offers students an opportunity to talk to experienced chicken keepers, see heirloom chickens in an urban setting and unique chicken coops ranging from practical to fabulous. This class will contain beneficial information for those curious to learn more about urban hen keeping, including first-time chicken owners to seasoned backyard farmers. Topics at each stop will vary and will include the history of legalizing backyard hens in Nashville, hen permitting, weatherizing your coop for summer and winter, what to feed your flock, chicken health, composting with chicken manure, urban predators and more.
